About the founder

Where Clinical Care Meets Workplace & Life Performance

Brett founded Reboot Behavioral Science in 2015 to bridge two worlds that rarely meet—mental health care and performance. His approach combines evidence-based clinical care with strategies that help people and organizations thrive in the real world.

With master’s and doctoral degrees in Consulting Organizational Psychology and a master’s in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, Brett offers a rare blend of organizational consulting, Performance & Wellness Coaching, and licensed mental health care. His experience spans roles with Hawaii News Now, Booz Allen Hamilton, and ALTRES Staffing, where he coaches leaders and small businesses through the ALTRES Leadership Academy.

An adjunct professor at Chaminade University and medical staff member at The Queen’s Medical Center, Brett integrates psychiatric medicine, performance coaching, and organizational psychology to address ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, and more. After three years in inpatient psychiatry and nearly a decade in private practice, he now serves clients across OR, HI, MD, and DC from his home base in Portland, Oregon.

Got Questions?

Whether you’re considering support for yourself, your team, or your business, here’s a few things to help you get started.

Who do you work with?
Clinically, we work with late adolescents and adults, and our organizational work is designed to serve leaders, entrepreneurs, teams, and small business owners. Our clients include students and professionals in high-demand roles, entrepreneurs, and individuals looking to align their actions with what matters most—whether that’s at work, in sports, or in daily life.
We provide evidence-based care for ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, and other challenges that affect focus, motivation, and resilience. Treatment may include psychotherapy, skills coaching, and thoughtful medication management. Our psychotherapy approach is behaviorist and grounded in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Performance & Wellness Coaching is designed to enhance performance, leadership, and adaptability in professional settings—not to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. It’s a proactive, skills-based process that helps people respond effectively to stress—both inside and outside the workplace—build resilience, and pursue meaningful goals, even in high-pressure environments. While the service is offered to an organization’s employees, it can also address the non-clinical side of personal challenges, such as navigating a health scare, improving relationships, or coping with loss. When an issue would be better served by licensed clinical care, we connect individuals with trusted healthcare providers in the community.

We help small business owners improve team dynamics, leadership effectiveness, and workplace well-being—while also coaching on the mental demands of running a business. For entrepreneurs, we focus on sustaining motivation, sharpening decision-making, building a leader identity, and knowing when to delegate or let go.

Performance & Wellness Coaching is confidential, structured support for leaders and teams focused on decision-making, performance, communication, and resilience. It’s often used as an EAP alternative that is more integrated into how a company works.

It depends on the service. Psychiatric/mental health care is clinical care. Performance & Wellness Coaching is structured support for work-related problems and leadership performance. Small business consulting focuses on business systems and execution.

Psychiatric care is available via telehealth. If medication is appropriate, we’ll discuss it as one part of a broader plan.
Telehealth psychiatric services are available for clients located in Oregon, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
Many clients use out-of-network reimbursement. You can request a superbill to submit to your insurance provider.

Use the contact page to reach out. We’ll help route you to the right service and next step.

If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent help, call your local emergency number or go to your nearest emergency room.

Tech founders often find themselves trapped in the belief that their company is moving too slowly, burning through money too quickly, and demanding endless hours. Working with Brett has helped me identify and strengthen my core values and reconnect with my original intention for creating the company. He's guided me in developing leadership skills and concrete behaviors that authentically manifest those values in my daily work. While the relentless demands of startup leadership don't disappear, Brett has equipped me to stay true to my values and lead with clear intention.

The Productivity of Low Hanging Fruit Reboot Behavioral Science

Case Study: Performance and Wellness Coaching Program (2025 Outcomes)

I sometimes joke that I’m on career number 17. The real count is much lower, but I’ve certainly spent enough time changing paths to know the feeling of being “between roles”—whether that’s unemployed, underemployed, or just stuck in a job that doesn’t feel like it fits.

Lean Management for Small Business: Why Reboot Behavioral Science (RBS) Relies on It Most

If productivity were a superfood smoothie, mine would be blended entirely from low-hanging fruit (LHF). Not because I’ve already plucked the juicier, more ambitious tasks, but because anything that isn’t LHF—say, finally learning the correct use of an ellipsis—gets permanently exiled to my “someday” list.
